Asutosh Museum of Indian Art is truly the one of its kinds. It is a
reservoir of valuable collections consisting of Bengal patachitra
paintings, 'katha shilpo' art etc. Situated at Centenary Building of
Kolkata University, this fabulous art gallery was established in 1937.
Asutosh Museum of Indian Art has been named after the great
educationist, Asutosh Mookerjee. The purpose of setting this university
art museum was to collect, preserve and display the antique items of
Indian art, with special focus on Eastern India, especially Bengal.
Asutosh Museum of Indian Art of Kolkata, India conducts archaeological
excavations and rural cultural surveys. It is the richest university
museum that has a fabulous collection of folk and rural craft of India.
